🥾 Hike Conditions & Expectations

  • Distance: Under 2 miles
  • Elevation: Roughly 700 feet of elevation gain
  • Terrain: Rocky footpath typical of central Pennsylvania, with uneven footing, roots, and rocky sections. Leaves make the trail slippery this time of year.
  • Pace/How Long Will This Take: Hike your own hike pace. This is designed for all skill levels to be out in nature and enjoy a hike. Feel free to go as far as you can and take breaks as needed. Budgeting time for a hike with all skill levels isn’t precise and it depends how long attendees want to stay up top and take in the view. We are hoping to finish the guided hike and have trail sweep back down by 11:00. Fit people who use this trail might complete it in less than an hour if they didn’t spend much time at the top, Others will take longer and savor more nature or rest breaks. Hike your own hike; we all love hiking for different reasons.
  • Experience Level: Anyone! No experience necessary. This hike is for anyone who wants to hike. Set out on the path and go as far as you feel comfortable and turn around anytime you want to go back. Or set out behind our leader and go up, enjoy the view and come back down to our merch table. As with all exercise, a reasonable level of fitness is required.
  • Gear: Participants should come prepared with appropriate footwear, water, and weather-appropriate clothing. Bonus: Trekking poles, a small trash bag and gloves in case there’s a need to pick up debris, snacks, first aid kits, journals, cameras, or your favorite gear.
  • Dog friendly considerate dogs are welcome on this hike.

Please plan for some extra time in Duncannon (we call it Funcannon for a reason) before and after to check out our thriving business community and hiker amenities. Perry County offers so much to explore.
