Planning on attending the 2026 Duncannon Appalachian Trail Community Festival, but want to get the full “hiker” experience??
Well it’s your lucky day… Our partner A.T. clubs are hosting A.T. hikes on both sides of Duncannon on the morning of Saturday, June 20th, 2026, and will end each hike in the Duncannon Town Square to join the Festival from 2:00pm – 8:00pm!! See below for details and how to register for each.
PETERS MOUNTAIN HIKE – Led by York Hiking Club:
Hike Level: HARD. 4 mile hike will start at Clarks Ferry Park and Ride off PA 147, we will hike up Peters Mountain on the Appalachian Trail to the Clarks Ferry Shelter and then take the blue trail back to the park and ride. The climb up the mountain is steep with boulders we have to climb over near the top. Bring water, hiking or trail shoes, lunch, snacks, hiking poles, and dress for the weather. After the hike, plan to go to the Duncannon Appalachian Trail Community Festival which goes from 2-8PM.

COVE MOUNTAIN HIKE – Led by Mountain Club of Maryland:
Hike Level: HARD. Come join us on an 8.5 – 9 mile hike, starting at the Hawk Rock Parking lot and heading head south to Cove Mountain shelter for lunch. After lunch, we will retrace our step, but stay on the AT to Inn Road. Then we will walk into Duncannon to the town square. We plan to arrive at the festival at its start at 2:00pm. Bring lunch, water, bug spray. Poles recommended. Note, the walk back to the Hawk Rock Parking Lot from the festival is approximately ¾ mile.
