It wasn’t easy walking through the knee-deep snow but the views of Duncannon and the surrounding area were definitely worth the effort. I hope you all get a chance to enjoy the sights and sounds that the Appalachian Trail has to offer on a cool and quiet winter’s day.
The most interesting trail to walk all seasons because there is a lot to observe. I planned hikes there for family and friends each season of the year. Congratulations to YOU to get to top in this deep snow. I am now 83 but I do not think I would challenge the deep snow because neighbors and friends came to help me clear the snow today…..
The Appalachian Trail leading to Hawk Rock is one of my favorite hikes, so much so that I think I’ve hiked it more than anyone else. I hope you can use the opportunity that your friends and neighbors provided to enjoy some time outdoors.
Pictures are beautiful. But you’re crazy walking that steep trail in this snow. You are really physically fit.
Hiking through the deep snow wasn’t easy but it was more of a mental challenge rather than a physical one. It’s just a matter of putting one foot in front of the other until you get to the top.
I love the Eagles Edge Picture – the best picture I’ve seen of Duncannon ! Thank you for sharing especially for us who would never try Hawk Rock in the snow (I barely made it when it was dry! – a non-hiker as you can guess!)
Thanks for the compliment, I’m glad you liked the pictures!
I love the picture of Duncannon from the Eagle’s Edge as well. It’s the best I’ve ever seen. I would love to see it made into a print that could be purchased.
Awesome pics from Hawk rock. Thanks for posting. I’ve hiked this trail but never in the snow.
You’re welcome and thanks for the kind words.
The trail is easier to hike now that the snow has partially melted, it still looks just as nice, and the weather is warmer too. Maybe now is the time to enjoy a winter hike up to Hawk Rock. 🙂
Glad to hear from you. Maybe I’ll see you around on the trail.
